Halloween party favors

Rows of small glass jars with orang jack-o-lantern and black wooden lids that read "Fall Into Halloween."

Here’s a sneak peek at my upcycled Halloween party favors.  I repurposed small glass jars and added these fantastic custom-made lids. I think they’ll make a memorable favor for this year’s Halloween party.

While it’s barely September, I’ve been thinking about this year’s Halloween party for weeks.  OK, let’s be honest…months.  Since the party has been on hiatus since 2019, I want this year’s fete to be extra special.

In addition to being a Halloween fan extraordinaire, I’m a recycling enthusiast. Each year, we try to eat, give away, or at the very least, compost as many of the plant-based fall decorations as possible. As a matter of fact, one of the five most viewed posts on Fall Into Halloween is Green Disposal Options for Pumpkins and Fall Decorations. With that in mind, it’s no surprise that I’ve been saving, and occasionally donating, my 5-ounce Oui Yogurt jars for years. Knowing that one day I’d find a way to repurpose my stash into something really special.

With a little help from Dulceria Creations, the glass jars have been upcycled into sweet little fall-themed treat containers.  The original plan was to pop an orange or black plastic lid on them and fill them with whatever yummy treats I could find or whip up. When it came time to order them last year, I couldn’t find the lids I originally wanted anywhere.

Eventually, I stumbled onto the handmade wooden ones featured above here. The two sisters, Vanessa and Victoria, run a small candle company in St. Petersburg, Florida. They have great lid options and can engrave text, pictures, or logos onto them. Plus, as of this posting, there’s no setup fee for the engraving, which is a nice bonus.

Vanessa worked with me to create two custom designs. One with a spooky cemetery theme and the blog’s name, and these adorable jack-o-lantern faces. Honestly, I found ways to use them in the house all year as they were too cute to hide away. Vanessa also created the new blog logo, which you can view on the homepage.

These upcycled treat jars have a ton of uses. As you can see, they are a great option for adult Halloween party favors. However, they may not be suitable for young children as the jars are breakable. They are a reusable option for fall bake sales. I’ve even used a few to make Halloween-themed candles. Stay tuned for that post in the coming weeks.

Let me know what you think. I’m considering making candied pecans or spiced nuts to fill the jars for the party. And, since I’ve just settled on this year’s party theme, I may have to order another set to tie everything together.
