Last fall, a friend mentioned this “adorable” pumpkin patch she kept driving by. I flagged it for this year’s annual fall bucket list, and it was 2022’s first autumn road trip.  In mid-September we headed off to East Berlin, PA to visit the beautiful Pumpkin Hill farm stand.

The farm stand, which has been in operation for more than 40 years, specializes in pumpkins, gourds, mums, corn stalks, hay animals, seasonal décor and so much more.  In addition to the variety, I loved it because the Burgard family’s pumpkin patch creates a full fall experience for visitors.

In addition to the pumpkins, mums, plants and decor, there is plenty for visitors to do.  If you’re into social media – um hello – there’s a ton of cool photo ops and props at your disposal. They even have a few antique-ish farm tractors they encourage children to pose on for pics.

The variety of pumpkins and gourds is impressive.  I had to take one of the Black Futsu squash pictured below, because of its unusual shape and color.

The staff was very helpful and friendly.  Several of the customers worked to assemble pumpkin stacks to purchase.  Mrs. Burgard assisted anyone who wanted help to select just the right size, shape and color to create the perfect look. There were so many choices that the options were endless.

In addition to more than 40 varieties of pumpkins, squash, and gourds, the farm stand also has a seating area, pet goats to feed and pet, and games.  I love this wooden pumpkin tic-tac-toe board.

We look for new pumpkin patches to support and visit each year. If you live near York or Adams County, PA, pack a thermos of warm cider and make time to visit Pumpkin Hill.  They are open from September through early November.
